Nibu, ShangHai, 2025
-
In designing the new space for Nibu Yogurt, we considered how the space should embody the brand's identity and cultural depth. By pairing materials in similar tones with varying textures, the space unfolds a multi-layered narrative.
We used wood, handcrafted tiles, and textured paint to form a foundation of authentic texture. These tactile materials bring warmth and vitality—wood carries a natural essence, while the handcrafted tiles reflect a sense of craftsmanship. Special thanks to @TSAYS Ceramics for beautifully realizing the shade of red we love. The earthy textured paint adds a grainy finish, creating a feeling of being wrapped in the profound embrace of the earth. This sense of "imperfection" instantly transports us to the grasslands of Inner Mongolia.
To express ethnic traditions in a modern context, we deconstructed traditional Mongolian yurt elements and reimagined them with a contemporary aesthetic. The soft, illuminated ceiling evokes the imagery of gazing at the sky from within a tent, while dark metal shelving brings a touch of modern refinement to the space.
